Transportation to the venue

Palanga airport is situated only 7 kilometers off the city. The city can be reached by bus or by taxi. A trip to Palanga city takes 10 min and costs about 15 EUR by taxi. (Taxi is available in front of Airport Terminal. Palanga Taxi tel.: +370 601 9769; +370 620 66633; +370 601 11885; +370 601 63146)

Vilnius airport is 7 km, or 15 minutes drive by car from the centre of Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. It‘s about 330 km from Vilnius to Palanga. Take a train Vilnius-Klaipėda, or a bus Vilnius-Klaipėda, and then take a bus Klaipėda-Palanga. Or take a bus Vilnius-Palanga.

Kaunas airport is situated 10 kilometers off the Kaunas city. It‘s about 240 km from Kaunas to Palanga. Take a bus Kaunas-Palanga.

Riga airport is situated 272 km from Palanga. There are flights, buses from Riga to Palanga.

The registration will take place on 20 August 2018 from 15:00 till 18:00.
However, if you have a late flight or other reasons for late arrival, you should arrive at the venue no later than 8:30 on Tuesday, 21 August 2018, as the course starts at 9:00.

If you need a visa, you have to inform us, and upon your final registration and payment, we will issue an official letter of acceptance which will help you to obtain a valid visa.

This PhD Summer School is a full-time activity. Each course consists of about 8 academic hours of academic activities.

The confirmation that your application is received will be sent to you by e-mail indicated in the registration form. Please type your e-mail address carefully. If you are in doubt of your registration, write phd@ktu.lt

Unfortunately, the dates for the school are fixed and participants must undergo the full programme without exception.

Doctoral students usually can apply to their scholarship organization or research council for a grant to cover the costs of attending this event. Some universities or their departments, doctoral programs, etc. may provide small-scale grants for attending training. Research projects funded through third party funds may also include a budget to cover members’ training needs. Please address your research council, local mentor, supervisor or research-training group for more information.

During the PhD Summer School, you are welcome to use wireless internet, which is available at the event centre. Participants of the PhD Summer School will receive login information on the first day of their arrival.
Students are welcome to bring their own laptop, etc.

When participants cancel their registration or when they do not pay the participation fee on time, the vacancies for other participants become available. We will inform you as soon as a place becomes available and expect you to respond quickly to our offer.

Summers in Palanga are the warmest in July and August, when average maximums are 21°C and minimums are 13°C.

Should you have any special dietary needs, please make sure you let us know upon registration.

At the time of application letters of reference are not required.  We will contact the supervisor(s) of shortlisted candidates if necessary.
